May nawawala sa gitna ng COVID-19 n krisis. Hindi lang naman siya, pati ibang mayor hinahanap din ng mga netizen online.

Bakit may nawawalang mayors? Kasi masyadong ginalingan ng tatlong mayor na'to. Trending ang meme nila.

So napaisip ako ngayon. Bakit yung mayor namin sa QC puro bash ang inaabot? Bakit silang tatlo puro papuri?

Inaamin ko di ako bumoto sa May (midterm) election. Dun lang ako sa presidential tsaka senators bumoboto. 😅 (Wag nyo ako gagayahin.) Pero in fairness mas ok na for me si Joy Belmonte kesa kay Bingbong Crisologo.

Bakit 'kaniyo?

Baka di po ninyo alam, sa Ilocos Sur dati lider si Crisologo ng goons ng mga Marcos noon. Nangingikil sila ng businessmen or yung mga may tindahan, atbp. Sila yung tinatawag na "saka-saka" noon kaya nagkaroon ng NPA sa Ilocos Sur para matigil ginagawa nila. Yan ang kwento ng mga matatanda noon.

Tas naghabulan pa daw yan sila ni Gov. Chavit Singson noon. Shempre kumpleto may putukan ng baril at takbuhan s kung saan. Ganern.

Well pwede naman nagbago na siya kasi nakulong at naging relihiyoso daw pero for me mas okay pa rin ako sa ibang kandidato kesa kahit kaninong sangkot sa mga krimen ng rehimeng Marcos.

Out of the four, I had to do the most research on her because there aren't much info on her background online. And I really wanted to find out about our city mayor because I don't really know her at all.

Here's some of what I found out.

• Maria Josefina “Joy” Belmonte - Alimurung , the youngest and only girl among the four children of the late newspaper publisher Betty Go-Belmonte and veteran statesman Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte—growing up amid very strong values of compassion, service and love for God and nation in action, instilled in her the significance of reaching out to others and making a difference.

• "I had a childhood where that was my concept of a woman—a woman who is working and a woman who is working for the country, and a woman that is equal of a man."

• "Then in college, I took up Social Sciences—a combination of Anthropology, Sociology and some Political Science. There I joined many organizations that were socially-oriented. I was also the president of my class in Ateneo but not very active in the Student Council—but more of the orgs.

After college, it was very natural to me to have this desire to give back because I had this feeling in my heart that I’ve had such a privileged childhood having parents like my parents. I had a very good education, with all of the opportunities in life available to me, and that’s why I wanted to give back."

• When Joy was in high school she wanted to be a politician, so she ran and won as the 1st student council president at the Poveda, an exclusive girls’ school. One of her projects was to pave the driveway. The joke was, “High school pa lang, nagpapasemento na si Joy.”

• She signed up for the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines (JVP) program and and taught world history, values education, PE and music. Her students were children of farmers.

• “If there’s anything I learned from having worked in social development and the NGO sector for a very long time, it is that one can do so much more when one is in a position of power. Power allows us to allocate resources strategically towards goals that would benefit far more people.

Get to know more about who Mayor Victor María Regis "Vico" Nubla Sotto is before becoming a government official.

• “I (mom Coney Reyes) surrendered my life to God on Oct. 29, 1990, and soon after that, I knew I needed to end things with Vic (Sotto),” she tells me in an interview last Friday.
  It wasn’t an easy decision, but Coney knew it was the right thing to do, if she was to do right by her children. “How can I make my children obey me if not everything was right in my life?” At the time, Coney’s marriage to her first husband had already been annulled, but Vic’s own marriage (to actress Dina Bonnevie) had not.

• “When he was younger, he wanted to do an outreach for his birthday. It wasn’t the regular party for an orphanage. He would go and find out what they needed, then we would go and buy it and bring it to them on his birthday—quietly, and without fanfare.”
  In parent-teacher conferences in his elementary years, his teachers would often tell Coney that Vico was a different kind of leader. When asked to elaborate, his teachers said, “His classmates like to go to him and seek his help, but he never calls attention to himself.”

• The only son of Filipino showbiz icons Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes (he has a total of 5 half siblings), it is safe to say that Vico is used to the attention but it is one that he is not necessarily comfortable with.

• His great grandfather Filemon Sotto served as a councilor and municipal vice president of then Cebu town. He also became the congressman of Cebu's 3rd District from 1907 to 1916 and joined the Senate from 1916 to 1922.
  Filemon's brother Vicente Sotto was Cebu town's councilor in 1902. He became the mayor in 1907. He later became a part of the Congress.

Well, Mayor Johnielle Keith "Kit" Pasion Nieto has very little past interviews online or articles abt him so these are all I found.

• Nieto was admitted to the bar on March 15, 1994, Roll No. 39119.

• One of six siblings. Parents are both doctors; his mom was an undersecretary of the Department of Health.

Anyway, I hope you learned something from my post today. Isip-isip din kung ano ang similarities and differences kung bakit ganito nangyayari sa bansa at gobyerno natin ngayon. During calamities lalabas tlga mga tunay na ugali ng mga tao.
